Why don't faux olive trees include pots?
There are two practical reasons premium faux trees are sold without pots.
Shipping weight and cost. A quality 180cm faux olive tree already weighs 4–8kg depending on the trunk and foliage density. Adding a fibrestone or ceramic pot — which can weigh 8–15kg on its own — would significantly increase shipping costs and the risk of damage in transit. Separating them keeps both the tree and the pot arriving in perfect condition.
You know your space better than we do. Interior designers consistently recommend against pre-matched pot and tree combinations because the right pot depends entirely on your floor material, wall colour, existing furniture and aesthetic. A dark charcoal fibrestone pot suits a contemporary interior. A round white ceramic suits a coastal home. Letting you choose the pot means the final result suits your specific space rather than a generic combination.

The proportion rule: The pot should be approximately 15–20% of the tree's total height. For a 180cm tree, a pot 28–36cm tall looks proportional. A pot that's too short makes the tree look top-heavy. A pot that's too tall hides the trunk character — one of the best visual features of a quality faux olive tree.
Which pot material works best with faux olive trees?
- Fibrestone — the most popular choice. Lightweight compared to real stone, looks like concrete or cement, suits contemporary and coastal interiors. Our Large Round Fibrestone Pot is the most purchased pot alongside our olive trees.
- Ceramic — beautiful glaze finish, heavier than fibrestone. Best for trees up to 160cm where the weight is manageable. Not ideal for larger trees that may need to be moved.

Do I need to fill the pot with anything?
The faux tree's internal base or stabiliser sits inside the pot. You don't need soil or any filler material. Add dried sphagnum moss on top of the base — this covers the plastic stabiliser and gives the finished look of real soil. Moss is available in our store and is the single most effective finishing detail for a styled faux plant.
Can I use my existing pot?
Yes — if you have an existing pot at home, check the internal diameter at the base of the pot. The tree's plastic stabiliser base is typically 18–25cm diameter depending on tree size. As long as your pot's internal diameter is larger than the stabiliser base, your existing pot will work perfectly.
